What?! Car Flying Over London?

You probably have seen Smart Cars jumping over a bridge every single day in Rotterdam but I bet you haven’t seen the 2015 Jaguar XE flying over central London in the beginning of this month.

In collaboration with the British Royal Air Force Red Arrows Acrobatic Team the car was air-lifted by helicopter in Solihull, where Jaguar’s manufacturers is located and carried along the Thames to Tower Bridge. The car continued its trip on a boat to later on hit the Earls Court, the home of 14 Jaguar debuts since 1935, where it was escorted by two 1960’s Mark II Jaguar Police Cars and welcomed by the 3,000 excited VIP guests.

What so special about the cutting-edge £30,000 XE sports car is the aluminum-intensive materials used to build the car, making it lightweight, stiff and sleek profile. The aluminum-lighter body makes the car more potential-fuel conscious, which in turn comes in line with efficiency regulations. Other carmakers such as Ford have chosen to use nearly all aluminum metal body in its most profitable vehicle, F150. The fact is aluminum when combined with small amounts of other metals to form and alloy it is actually just as strong as steel.

Highly aerodynamic and powerful due to it six cylinder motor, Jaguar XE generates 450 pounds-feet of torque, allowing it to go from zero to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds and hit an electronically limited maximum speed of 155 mph. The XE car has a luxurious interior and advanced infotainment system including an eight-inch touchscreen and a clear graphical interface.

Money Is So Over: Pay With Tweets

Hub of a number of astonishing fashion and high-tech trends such as CityCharger, New York City has once more set a new thing: the pop-up tweet shop. At the Marc Jacobs Tweet shop in SoHo at 462 West Broadway customers could pay in tweets at the check-out counter. The shop in NYC was the first one to successfully create a social buzz around fashionistas and media-savvy shoppers, followed by a Convent Garden pop-up shop in London last month.

Put up to last a couple of days the lounge-inspired pop-up shop features apart from a lounge area, photo booth, vine booth, food, drinks, free Wi-Fi, and nail bar, all accompanied by the skills of DJ Jilly Hendrix. Goodies such as mini-fragrances, clothing and accessories could be purchased and paid in form of tweets, Facebook or Instagram posts followed by the hashtag #MJDaisyChain. To enhance the social campaign MJ store is also giving handbags as rewards to best Instagram photos.

This is not the only social marketing campaign to use exquisite forms of currency in exchange for goods. McDonald’s Stockholm has also set a new trend by accepting recycled cans as payment for burgers. Linked to a more “proud” cause, McDonald’s social campaign can be said to have a deeper purpose behind it unlike MJ pop-up stores that mainly aim at creating a social buzz among their consumers and admirers.

Shanghai Metal Corporation, a specialist manufacturer and trader of metal products, doesn’t accept social currency for the moment. Pay For Your Burger With Recycled Cans

Recycled aluminum cans have never been so wanted these days. Coca-Cola is the greater innovator when it comes to marketing campaigns such as China’s Coke Lyrics and now the partnership with McDonalds’ Australia, Coke Rewards, giving away rewards as you collect tokens.

Now McDonald’s takes one step further as an effort to get its fair share in this endless social marketing industry. Following an eco-conscious marketing move, McDonald’s in Stockholm is using recycled cans as currency in exchange for burgers. Part of an interactive campaign designed to the food chain company the advertising agency DDB Stockholm has created a huge incentive to young Swedes unwittingly clean up after them, especially during the summer time when parks and festivals leave behind piles of emptied aluminum beer and soda cans around the city.

As DDB Stockholm puts it, “you’ll find a lot of young people with empty drink cans and empty wallets”. As Simon Higby, a DDB Stockholm creative, puts it, “Youngsters don’t always have so much cash, but sometimes they can get empty cans. So, accepting cans in return for burgers gets them to McDonald’s and the cans to the recycling depot. Everyone’s happy.”

All you have to do is to fill up a bag provided by McDonald’s with 10 cans in exchange for a hamburger or cheeseburger or 40 cans for a Big Mac. The recycling bags can be found attached to strategically installed billboards, which function as a dispenser for free bags – you just tug on the poster’s bottom to get your bag and you are ready to go to the nearest McDonald’s store to get your free burger.

The Swedish fast food chain now accepts “cards, cash and cans” and is an attempt to align the “making profit” during summer time with environmental concerns. By getting a burger the youngster will ultimately opt for fires or a drink to go with it, increasing sales of such items.

The World’s Biggest Mobile Fridge Sailed in Paris

The Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Notre Dame, Versailles, Moulin Rouge, those are the places to visit in Paris. In 2009, the city of love also became famous of a creative marketing campaign.

The Korean electronics company LG set up a creative marketing campaign for their ecological fridge. The company, one of South Korea’s largest chaebols, turned a 70 meter container ship into the world’s biggest fridge that sailed up the Seine from Le Havre to Paris between June 22 and June 25. The vessel transported cooking ingredients that the famous 3-star Michelin chef Alain Passard cooked for visiting journalists.

LG’s ecological fridge uses a patented “Linear Compressor” technology that is to lower energy consumption up to 20 percent compared to other conventional fridges. The new fridge technology has also received an A+ rating from the EU.

Refrigerated containers, or reefer containers, are mainly used for shipping temperature sensitive products even with extremely long distances. Reefer container technology enabled for instance the shipping of Camel Milk from the United Arab Emirates to Europe. Please, read the whole story here.

LG converts container ship into a huge advertisement for eco-friendly fridge

As businesses are getting more aware of the benefits of refrigerated containers, new uses for them are emerging. Reefer containers are basically tools that combine mobility and cold chain. One can set up a temperature sensitive business and still vary its location. For example, Atlanta’s Botanical Garden used a refrigerated container to set up a mobile bio-secure research laboratory for their research  on frogs in 2011. Reefer containers are also convenient in, say, open-air events where organizers need to keep their heavy loads of Red Bulls and Coca-Colas chilled all the time.

Like LG, Shanghai Metal Corporation‘s reefer containers also use environmentally friendly and energy efficient technology that generate a really low CO2 footprint. We also apply high standards in their quality assurance. To learn more about our refrigerated containers, please visit our website.
