Wonderful Chain Art

Metals are everywhere around us and sometimes you don’t even notice that an object next to you is made out of steel, copper or aluminum. For example a simple metal chain doesn’t have to serve just for securing your bike against the railing. Why am I mentioning a chain? Well let’s sit comfortably and have a look.

Urban art has many interesting variations. Here, artists used their imagination and metalworking skills to create something really extra-ordinary. By using CHAINS!

via weburbanist

I am a bit curious who would wear shoes with chain higheels, it seems almost impossible to walk with that.

Everyday urban landscapes may seem shady that’s why artists accentuate the beauty of these places to make the environment nicer to people.

via weburbanist

Fashion designers also got inspired by chains and implemented it into their urban fashion style. Many of you probably don’t approve it but at least they stepped out of mainstream and created something unusual.

via weburbanist

Not only fashion but also furniture can be created with chains. These kind of chairs, sofas or tables will lighten your house and bring unique style.

This urban style is not for everyone but if you like it you could visit our website to see what metal products we offer. Shanghai Metal Corporation offers good quality and a quick service.

Creative applications of coins

Many people get annoyed when their wallets are full of coins. All those clinking sounds in a pocket while you are walking… But have you ever thought of using these coins for something else than paying for chewing gums or helping homeless people?

Several artists have seen the possibility in spare change we carry around and showed that coins don’t have just financial worth.

5. Sagmeister & Walsh – Obsessions Make My Life Worse and My Life Better

New York City’s design firm Sagmeister & Walsh created this masterpiece over the eight-day period, covering are of 3,200 square feet and over 100 volunteers helped them to sort the coins by color tone and place them in space in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was made up of 250,000 Euro one-cent pieces.

9. Stacey Lee Webber – American Flags

The piece above is created from steel, brass and one-cent coins. Stars and stripes were cut to make an accurate although not a colorful rendition of the U.S. flag. It was created by Stacey Lee Webber.

7. Ed Chapman – Nelson Mandela

This portrait of Nelson Mandela,  the former South African president, that measures 44 by 31 inches was created  out of 5,340 pennies. The British artist Ed Chapman also created mosaic works of pop-cultural icons including Albert Einstein, John Lennon and Marilyn Monroe.

Forget Home Furnishings, IKEA Enters The E-Bike Market

IKEA has certainly surprised us with many clever home-furnishing solutions. Most importantly, IKEA, with its roots in the super “green” country of Sweden, could not leave its homecountry’s highly socially conscious citizens disappointed. When it comes to act environmetally friendly, IKEA comes right up in the top list worldwide as leader of clean technology. In fact, IKEA has big goals for 2020 that includes a plan to obtain 100% of the energy it consumes in its stores and buildings from clean energy and to grow more wood than it uses.

501863703_bfda852e57_z

Plastic bags were far gone six years ago, CFLs and LEDs were introduced as replacement for high-energy consuming incandescent light bulbs back in 2010, affordable home solar panels were recently made available in the UK, a number of electric car stations were installed at stores across the world and now IKEA has entered the electric bike market.

Yes, e-bike FOLKVÄNLIG can be found in two IKEA’s retail stores located in Vienna, Austria. Still in its inception phase, the e-bike is expected to become viral and shortly reach out to many different stores. The electric bike’s design has already received various awards at the Taipei Cycle Show, Eurobike and the IF Design Award.

FOLKVÄNLIG in Swedish means ‘user- friendly’, which is probably what IKEA is trying to address here with its sleek e-bike that could take you anywhere within a distance of 60 to 70km, aided by a powerful electric motor of 250Watt that could get you a total pedal-assisted range up to 45mi/72km per charge.

The e-bike also features an easy rechargeable system to its removable in-frame lithium-ion battery pack that takes about five hours to recharge, as well as a Shimano transmission that provides six different driving modes.

Should it prove successful, IKEA’s FOLKVÄNLIG e-bike must also come in a foldable variant, which gives the market even more room for growth.

Dream Home Furnishing With IKEA’s Very Affordable Little Helper

image

If you ask any present college student or graduate where they bought their furniture while at school, odds are IKEA is high up on that list. As of January 2008, IKEA became the world’s largest furniture retailer thanks to their product management, placement and quality given to their customers. IKEA’s product lines range from your everyday table spoon and doorknobs to larger media furniture, sofas, and full furnished kitchens. With style and functionality at it’s forth front, IKEA needed a material that would both look aesthetically pleasing with their items and durable-stainless steel was the answer.image

Using China as the main example; out of their 2615 products on sale, 544 have in one way shape or form stainless steel. With over 20% of their products in China containing stainless steel, it’s a great thing that most of IKEA’s stainless steel articles are sourced from Asia, including China at 90%, Taiwan and Korea with the final 10%. The ability to adapt stainless steel on their existing products gave them that hint of style they needed.

image

With IKEA’s popularity at a world’s recognition, they have attracted new and modern designers. The ability for these designers to use stainless steel in their products has helped promote IKEA product as not just functional but stylish, as well as potentially raise their revenue. With some products, consumers have a choice of whether or not to include stainless steel in their product. For example, you could buy a bed frame and keep the wooden legs that it comes with, or opt to spend $20 more on those stainless steel legs which makes your bed look better. At the end of the day more people choose to spend just a little bit more to make their bed look sleeker and better looking.

image

The example of the bed legs is just one small one, but it shows the significance a small change can make. Stainless steel has absolutely helped IKEA pave the way to different markets with their high quality and affordable products.

It is this same idea of affordability and quality that we here at Shanghai Metal Corporation bring to the table with your stainless steel needs. To find out more, please visit our Website or send your inquiry here. Furniture Trend Alert

Trending currently around the world is the increase in popularity of galvanized furniture; prized for its often industrial look, adaptability and durability (especially in outdoor settings) consumers are updating their homes with these trendy pieces. Pictured below is a striking outdoor setup where a selection of galvanized pieces has made a particularly striking impression on an already stellar location.

Vertical Screen Building

Complementing this galvanized furnishing trend is the addition of industrial fittings to the home and bare walled rooms to give the impression that one is in a warehouse. This has the effect of opening up a space and also allowing the resident of the dwelling to have a unique living perspective. This ideal is emphasized below, where galvanized furniture is complemented with galvanized steel bars to create this aesthetic but also a bonus practical foot rest.

clip_image001

Further tapping into this trend is our example below, which goes one step further by incorporating the use of reclaimed timber scaffolding along with galvanized piping to emphasize the urban rival and reclamation that this trend emphasizes.

Shanghai Metal Corporation offers galvanized steel in a multitude of forms that can be used to satisfy the applications mentioned above. These include piping, galvanized steel coils, strips, sheets, plates, wire, pre-painted steel, roofing material (in a number of profiles) as well as steel grating.
