Last time I wanted to buy a lamp, interesting, functional, eco-friendly, “with a soul”. I went to a shop and I looked around. Nothing. Is it really hard to make things in a different way? All you need is just some creativity.

Many cities all over the world are full of coffee fans. Small cafes or Starbucks everywhere. Now one designer from New York collects and converts old coffee filters and recycles them to make beautiful lampshades. Because of the soft tones from the coffee stains, lamp gives a romantic low-light.

One company in United States, Lamp Revival, creates unique lamps out of old materials. Their 2 very impressive and successful creations were Fred Astaire lamp when they used pipe fittings with sheet metal and Ginger Rogers lamp, using two recycled glass shades.

Designer Nadia Belalia deconstructed the lowly kitchen utensil into stunning lamps. She works with classic collapsible steamers and takes the natural geometry of the perforated steel wings and expands them into satisfying shapes.

Now Even Babies Can Have Their Own “Espresso” Machine

I remember the first time I came across this shiny espresso machine that could freshly brew my own espresso at my very own home at any time of my day. It was fabulous and more importantly, effortless! Now even babies can have their own “espresso” machine the same way you brew your cup of morning joy out of your Nespresso (aided by George Cloney).

Nestlé introduced its premium BabyNes system, which prepare and deliver a hygienic, safe, easy and quick bottle for babies. The single-serve baby milk formula portions are sealed in capsules integrated with a microbiological filter that eliminates bacteria from the water. The bottle preparation takes place within the closed capsule which means it doesn’t have any contact with the machine or the user before going into the bottle.

The world’s first comprehensive state-of-the-art nutrition system for infants and toddlers, BabyNes, uses a patented technology to prepare the bottle with precisely the right dosage and temperature, at the push of a button, in less than one minute. The high-tech BabyNes machine can be purchased for $287 and works with a range of six single-serving formula pods (purchased separately in packs of 26 for $56-$64), tailored for infants and young children up to the age of three years. Taking into consideration the baby’s evolving nutritional needs Nestlé customized four formulas to infants in their first year, and one formula for each of the following two years. The baby formula also is a perfect combination to when solid food is introduced to the infant’s diet.

Battling against organizations such as Baby Milk Action who raises campaigns against breastmilk substitutes, Nestlé said it supported WHO recommendations on breastfeeding for the six-month period and “continued breastfeeding thereafter for as long as possible”, according to The Guardian.

The New Reclosable Screw-Top Aluminum Bottle For Your Beer

In today’s consumer products marketplace, brands are constantly searching new ways to revitalize their image and stand out on the shelf. Beverage industry has taken the beverage packaging to a whole new level with a full range of aluminum bottles.

Anheuser-Busch InBev NV (ABI) was the first brewer to launch a reclosable screw-top aluminum bottle for their beverage, the Bud Light Platinum. They hand-picked Bud Light Platinum as “Platinum has been able to elevate the premium light beer category with its blend of image and flavor, and we believe it will do the same to for the perception of aluminum bottles”, said Rob McCarthy, vice president of Bud Light.

Using an impact-extruded packaging technology, the aluminum packaging is environmentally friendly, being 100% recyclable. Seamless aluminum finish also adds to premium allure. Consumers think the bottle is “more premium, more refreshing,” Paul Chibe, vice president U.S. marketing for AB InBev.

Features such as chill-retention, re-sealability, and durability are some of the reasons why there is a growing number of beverage marketers looking for the “cool factor” in order to make a lasting impression on potential customers. The design of the Bud Light Platinum aluminum bottle – which features a twist-off cap – provides for a tool-less opening. The new bottle is also more than 50% stronger than a standard aluminum can and helps the beer get colder faster. “The new reclosable bottle continues our long tradition of innovative packaging that delivers the freshest, coldest, best-tasting beer possible,” said Pat McGauley, vice president of innovation for Anheuser-Busch.

The new bottle uses less aluminum than traditional cans, said Luiz Edmond, the brewer’s North American president, and the packaging invites drinkers to play with the screw-top, which male drinkers like, he said, with a discreet flag saying “trbeer1ust me, I like it” on the bottle neck.

AB InBev’s initiative to introduce the new aluminum packaging for a more expensive and stronger variant of beer was part of a strategic plan to bring Budweiser and Bud Light back to life. The brand has about 21 percent of the U.S. beer market, with its next closest competitor Coors Light accounting for about 8 percent. AB InBev competes with SABMiller Plc (SAB) and Molson Coors Brewing Co.’s joint venture MillerCoors in the U.S, according to Bloomberg.
